Success Behaviors

  • H&R Construction has what we call our “Key Success Behaviors”. These Behaviors are at the core of what makes us who we are and are our standard when it comes to expectations for our employee’s. Our Key Success Behaviors are known by all and feed directly into our philosophy of how we want to run our construction company.

  • BE THE CUSTOMERS "EASY BUTTON":

In all situations, do what’s best for the customer.  Be the easy button.  Take their work off their plate so they can focus on there main job, not this project.  They hired us because they don’t have time to deal with a crappy GC.  Prove to them daily that they made the right choice.  There’s no greater way to build a reputation than to always do what’s right for others, every day.  Strive to make the project and the decision process easy for our clients.  If they ask for something to be done, say “YES”, and figure out a way to get it done.

  • GO THE EXTRA MILE:

Be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job….. plus a little bit more. Take the next step to solve the problem, even if it takes doing something outside of your job description. It’s going the “extra mile” that will separate individuals and our company from others.

  • DELIVERY LEGENDARY CUSTOMER SERVICE:

Do the little things, as well as the big things, that blow people away. Create extraordinary experiences they’ll tell others about. Mere customer satisfaction is for lesser companies. Create customer loyalty by doing the unexpected. Build Relationships!

  • EXCEED EXPECTATIONS:

Go above and beyond to satisfy our clients’ needs. Go the extra mile and be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job.

  • BE RELIABLE:

Show up to work on time, every day. Do what is asked of you and get it done when you say it will be done. Be a person that the team can count on to complete tasks as requested.

  • FIND A WAY:

Take personal responsibility for making things happen – somehow, someway. Respond to every situation by looking for how we can do it, rather than explaining why it can’t be done. Be resourceful and show initiative.

  • FIRM BUT FAIR:

We will hold our subcontractors and suppliers accountable. We will be firm, but we will also be fair. If a scope of work changes, we will acknowledge it.

  • BE AGGRESSIVE w/ “HOLDING THE R” – RESPONSE TIME:

When a task is “in our court”, and we are holding responsibility (R) of something, make it critical to respond in a very timely manner. Either in person, by phone, or email, even if the response is “we are working on it". Rapid response time is an easy way to achieve success.

  • TEAMWORK:

Always do what’s best for the customer, the project, the crew, and the company. Be there for each other and be willing to step into another role or help a co-worker or another crew when needed to achieve success. Help everyone succeed. Be a great teammate. Value one another’s efforts and provide a good work environment. Employees are part of a true team. Rewarded with gatherings, activities, to promote the success of the team. Family atmosphere.

  • BE PROUD OF YOUR WORK:

Take pride in the quality of everything you touch and everything you do. Always ask yourself, “Is this my best work?”. Everything you touch has your signature!

  • LOOK AHEAD AND ANTICIPATE:

Solve problems before they happen by anticipating future needs and addressing them in advance. Preventing issues is always more effective than fixing them.

  • COMMUNICATE TO BE UNDERSTOOD:

Know your audience. Write and speak in a way that they can understand. Avoid using internal lingo, acronyms, and industry jargon. Use the simplest possible explanations.

  • DELIVER RESULTS:

While effort is appreciated, we reward and celebrate results. Set high goals, use measurements to track progress, and hold yourself accountable for achieving those results.

  • SCHEDULE AGGRESSIVELY, BUT REALISTICALLY:

We will schedule projects aggressively but realistically. We understand the time value of money for all of the project stakeholders (H&R Construction, the Owner, and Subcontractors). Place a safety buffer at the end of our schedules and hold our team accountable for the schedule. Seek input on the schedule from subcontractors and suppliers.
